Economy 4.0: employment effects by occupation, industry, and gender

The aim of this study is to investigate how the diffusion new digital technologies (Economy 4.0-technologies) affects magnitude and composition employment in Austria. For purpose, an input–output framework adopted taking into account direct as well indirect effects by industry, occupation gender. These are estimated difference between a base economy (as represented recent Austrian table) after 10-year transformation period with introduction production development products for final demand. Based on substitution potentials detailed occupational level available from previous research, we model changes labour productivity. Combining two different scenarios productivity change assumptions about collective wage bargaining outcomes gives us four possible macroeconomic paths Economy 4.0. results show that due 4.0 during next 10 years job displacement will probably be greater than creation aggregate decline 0.80–4.81% relative total present employment. Furthermore, indicate occupations gaining highly skilled while losing medium-skilled. Also, female workers adversely affected terms
